Abridged History of the 10th Age
The Thurian Littoral
As one might expect, the Thurian Littoral is dominated by the great city of Thurayn, which is the capital of Essad. However, Thurayn is not the only settlement in the stony hills of the littoral.
The narrow strip of land between the Whip Range and the sea was, in the ancient days of the slaver-empire’s glory, a little-settled district that had very low value to the life of the empire. Now, it is the urbanized center of Essad. Where once most slave ships docked in Shelterwind Bay, the machinations of Magron Thur ensured that the large bay near Eles would come to be known as Slaver’s Bay, and it is now where almost all oceanic traffic makes for when docking in Essad.
There are other settlements near the littoral, of course; these include orcish tribes up in the Whip (though their numbers are quite small), goblin warrens located in the northern hills, and a few scattered gigantine settlements amongst the high peaks. The chief of the giant-towns is the stronghold-city of Ochyros, which does much trade with Essad.
