Abridged History of the 10th Age
This idyllic country owes its existence to a series of natural barriers that protect it, making it one of the most secure regions of Thyrnesse. Away from the Hearthland and any danger that might beset the Ardon Ry Tamerin III, the Gold Hook mountains range, the Ruinwood, the Crook, and the Horns as well as the Straits of Aralen.
The South Hamlets are ruled over by the Duchess Elena Paix, though several of the larger towns can claim direct overlordship by the King at Miles himself. The Duchess’ power base is thus fractured and incomplete, making her a lesser player in Thyrnessian politics. Her own counts and barons are constantly striving for position amongst the other Ducal courts or in the Royal one.
