Serpent Country

Serpent Country is located on the far side of the Rotwood and stretches along the northern marches of Thyrnesse. The habited lands of Serpent Country are narrow, following the shoreline and the Saltgate Road. The interior of Serpent Country is a vast network of marshes and fens, wholly given over to the wilderness. Rumors have it that it is not only full of bandits, but the more southerly strains of lizardmen and troglodytes as well.

Duke Leonus Savont is known as a cunning man, shifty in changing of allegiances but generally given to making decisions based not on his own gain alone, but the gain of his province. Like the South Hamlets, many of the lesser lords of Serpent Country do not owe him allegiance, but rather have sworn directly to the King. He has been attempting to make inroads against this trend, but the Ardon Ry is extremely hostile to these maneuvers.
